Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, is one of those cities sculpted into and built on hills. Being a vibrant city in Western Europe with a traditional heritage, exciting lifestyle, good all-year-round climate and a lively nightlife, it offers more than any visitor could ask for. Lisbon's subtropical-Mediterranean climate is home to the mildest winters and the warmest summers, making it a perfect destination for tourists.
A short train or bus ride from the capital leads you to the Estoril and Cascais beaches. Here you will find activities ranging from family sunbathing, to paddleboarding, to the windsurfing. While at the beach, visitors can be treated to surf lessons too. The city perfectly mirrors the Portuguese traditions and preserves the rich Portuguese heritage while still embracing the modernity. It also has a very well connected public transport system that makes moving around this big city easier.
Lisbon is also known for its lively nightlife, which starts late and remains vibrant until the sun rises. Complete with cheap drinks, it’s one of the more enjoyable cities one can experience. The legal drinking age is 18 years; although the Portuguese have a child-friendly culture and children are welcomed almost everywhere.
Apart from the nightlife and the beaches, the city also holds history spanning hundreds of years back. The art of Lisbon's ceramic tiles, which cover many of the city's wonderful buildings, is what many visitors come to see. Creativity dating back to over five hundred years ago is displayed at the Museu do Azulejo and it’s amazing how such displays were made of tiles. Tile lovers can check into the expensive hotels showcasing the elaborate works.
Visitors can also visit the recently opened Museum of art, architecture, and technology which is on the banks of River Tagus. It also consists of a former power plant and a separate exhibition space. The city also has a lot of antique shops and vintage shops. On top of that, it is a commercial city for those visitors who wish to go shopping.
