Surface interaction of plants, leaves, reedstalks and light. The line between blue and green zone depicts the border between transparence and reflection dependent upon the camera angle and media (air, water) density difference.

Big mushroom-shaped rock offers plenty of shade, protects from annoying waves, and grants more ways to escape from danger. It also saves one the effort of digging out sand from under the bottom stone. The shells growing all over the place ensure sufficient food. So, Hernando has found himself a nearly perfect hideaway. Feeling safe, he did not run from the approaching camera. Theres an old song titled "Hernandos Hideaway". Listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC05YwDUmVg

Traveling by arms can be every bit as exciting as traveling by foot. If youre on Lake Ohrid and have a camera at hand, even more so.

Relatively new on the market, made by divers for divers! But this pretty little camera works just as well in many other circumstances. Find all about it here: https://pevly.com/paralenz-dive-camera-review/

A small camera fixed on top of tripod, left to record the sunset in time-lapse mode. So the next several hours will later be shown in just about five minutes. This is another interesting way of viewing our World, as attractive as slow motion, but on the other end of the time-manipulating scale.

In the days of yore it was customary to carry a "side-arm", which could come handy when your main weapon was either too much or too cumbersome to use. In the days present, it still is customary to have another device to shoot in various ways and occasions whenever the situation requires it, and such sidearms are readily available for ever less money. Like this one here, called YDXJ01FM (Google for more using this mysterious code!). It can record video in 4K for ~90 minutes worth of one battery load, it can shoot photo bursts, timelapse photo, and timelapse video. It can shoot photos JPEG or RAW, exposures up to 60 seconds, night video, and video slowed down up to 8 times. Its nice to have such a sidearm along on your photo/video outings!

    - "Thank you, Jeeves." For this occasion, the valet name was borrowed from short stories and novels written by master P. G. Wodehouse (1881–1975). Youve probably watched the humorous serial "Jeeves & Wooster"... No? You certainly should!

Need a handgrip for your Action Camera? Handgrips are all around you, and the best are right there in DIY - your most popular source of freebies! This Handy Handle can be useful in a wide variety of camera usage: You can hold it in or over your hand in several ways. You can add a wide elastic band to mount it to your forearm. You can use it as a standing base that can replace a small tripod. You can hang it from the tree branch, or stick it between two rocks. You can mount it your car fender using rooftop-carrier elastic strap. You can tow it behind a boat, fixed under or over some floating bottles. You can use it with your diving / snorkeling gear, suit or other swimwear. You can mount it to a helmet, ski boot, on top of sail mast or a canoe paddle. You can invent about a million more ways to utilize it without me telling you how. As you can see, it will cost you nothing save a half an hour of work. Youre welcome!

This is how I have customized my underwater camera: 1 Lens Cap (on wet lens adapter) 2 Lens Cap safety line (detachable at fingerplate) 3 Fingerplate (above middle and fourth finger, secures camera grip) 4 Adjusts strap length (camera to fingerplate) between fingers 5 Adjusts wrist strap loop length 6 Wrist strap (with provided safety breaking point) 7 Spirit bubble level (glued to camera) All modifications were made to enable me the one-handed use of the camera, as the fingerplate lets me hold the camera securely even with open palm, until I spread the fingers; that releases the fingerplate. In the meantime I can operate all the camera commands using just the thumb of the camera-holding hand. The spirit bubble level is superglued within the concave line in the camera case, and it lets me quickly correct the camera horizontality from all positions, without checking the monitor. The wrist strap ends are connected above the wrist with small metal clip that will rip apart when certain force is applied, which helps one to free oneself if the camera gets entangled during free dive. Of course, everyone is free to copy any one or all solutions shown here!

I guess some crabs could actually find me boring. Me and my boring camera...

One among the ways to gather candd underwater photos is to leave one camera in this fashion (set on Timelapse Photo mode), while snorkeling around with another. Expect various beings visiting the alien "plant" sticking from the lake bottom... while you hunt withanother camera in hand! Fun! Find out more here: https://pevly.com/sjcam-sj6-legend-air-review/

Before trustng the newly acquired camera, one should first test its resistence to water pressure, of course within the recommendations given by its manufacturer. So here is such a test for the new "USB casing" with touch-enabled hatch...
  • Country: Macedonia
I went for a snorkeling swim to test a camera (its what I do) and to visit my water friends, fishes and reptiles. So I met this young fellow which, like 99% of all watersnakes, shows neither fear nor agression. He remained on my palm watching me and the camera with curiosity until it became too warm for him and he slithered back into the water. Im certain well meet again, and many times! And when he grows big, hell probably behave just like here. They remember well!

An air bubble that makes our cameras able to work underwater!
  • Country: Croatia
Photographed long ago with the smallest camera I ever had (Sony DSC T7), the Sava river rapids in Zageb appeared smoothed down and lazy. This artificial weir has been built to keep the water level optimal for thermo-electric plant intake. In building this, people used crushed remains of torn-down buildings, and many reinforcing iron rods are still sticking out into the flow, waiting for swimmers and kayaks. Because this place contains so many hidden dangers it is strictly off-limits for any and all human activity. A pity, really. Could have been built to be both sport-friendly and safe...
  • Country: Macedonia
For half an hour we have enjoyed the nightingales singing, and at this rare occasion also its looks! He sat in the willow branches about ten meters from the camera... A real treat if you like Nature and the incredible wealth it nurtures!
  • Country: Macedonia
Its a kind of broth melange soup: a view of the camera photo of a smartphone screen look at the monitor of Runcam recording. Technologic can sometimes easily be seen as Tech-no-logic. Simplicity is getting more complicated by the day. Or maybe its the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

Wandering through the reed along the Lake Ohrid coast can bring you in position for some very nice photos. A simple sit-on-top kayak and water-protected camera are more than enough...

Time-lapse photography of the weather changing. Camera is a tiny SJCAM M10+ doing a great job...
  • Country: Macedonia
Small and nifty, this camera can reach places many others cant. If you like Outdoors, regardless of the climate, perhaps you should look it up - or any among the vast range of other models / manufacturers. Still, considering specs vs. price, this choice was relatively painless. I use it mainly underwater, so I added this DIY wrist bracelet.

When I swim to this part of the lake shore, I know Ill alarm some birds usually sitting there. And more often than not, there will be water drops on the camera lens to spoil the photo. This time there was luckily an exception.

From my recent rehab days in the hospital, right after hip replacement surgery. The corridor is 50 meters long, so 20 lengths made an excellent exercise. Besides, my darling wife brought me my camera to save me from Death By Boredom. Thus, this was one of the everyday views... happily done with!

Big and beautiful, the mantis already wears its autumnal color while exploring fearlessly whatever it finds; camera, hand, hair...

Taken during my rehabilitation days following recent hip joint replacement surgery. My wife saved me from death by boredom, when she brought me my camera, so I was able to color my hours between therapy minutes there.

Natrix tessellata, in the Lake shallows. A real close-up, since the camera was a wide-angle Sjcam M10+ set to photo mode.
  • Country: United States
    Destination: Utah
Last Rays Over Monument Valley, Utah is purely a lucky shot. I saw the sun going down while I was on a conducted tour of the valley and was keen on getting a shot of my life time before the sun dipped over the horizon. As I reached the disembarking point, last rays of the sun were skimming the top of the buttes. I dashed to a high vantage point to avoid heads of other photographers who had already set up their tripods and were shooting in a mad frenzy. Panting due to exertion, I fired away couple of shots with the camera in my trembling hands. There was simply no time to set up my tripod.
  • Eel
    Country: Macedonia
In a nearby fish pond people raise mainly trout, but one can see an occasional eel too. Fortunately it gave me just enough time to switch on the underwater camera, dunk my hand, and click this one shot. (SJCAM M10 in u/w casing)

For once, my camera knew what I tried to focus on... and so the blackbird is sharp, among all the twigs...

The butterfly flitter-fluttered around for a while, and then settled down on Emmas camera. Maybe blue is the color he likes the most?
  • Country: Macedonia
Coot flock gathering in springtime mating ritual. During this time the flocks will be very dense and numerous. They will often be running over the surface and creating incredible din which is guaranteed to make you grab the camera and run out to see whats going on!
  • Country: Croatia
The best mechanical underwater amphibious camera ever - the abilities and quality of such devices are still sorely missed in diving fraternity. My diving buddy is exposing the last frames of the roll, so we can develop it right there in the camp. And a seastar turning over is always an interesting sight.
  • Country: Macedonia
Another of the numerous climate quirks that Nature displays over the Lake. We do love to watch it so much... meaning there simply has to be a camera handy at all times!
  • Country: Macedonia
One of "our" tame lizards peeking at us from between two flowerpots. This one already knows there is no danger of the camera and so allows the ultimate closeness of the lens.
  • Country: Macedonia
Swans can usually be heard way before they are seen. Their wings make very characteristic swishing sound. So, one can put aside the coffee mug, grab the camera, switch it on and zoom out... to catch this beautiful flyer!
  • Country: Croatia
One of four beautiful carstic rivers that meet in Karlovac (Croatia) - which makes it a really special place. I guess you can imagine yourself paddling along this emerald; every season is good, as long as you dont forget to bring a camera.
  • Country: Croatia
My diving buddy fires a shot at some underwater beauty. My camera is set to B waiting to record just that! Deep in the Adriatic, well below 60 meters, there are only two colors: black and blue... By the way... B does not stand for "bulb" as people today are mislead to think. It was originally, and still is, short for "Beliebig", German for "at will", meaning keeping the exposure time for as long as the shutter was pressed.

Lika region (Croatia) in winter is the place to photograph the snowy scenes. This glare to the right is such that neither eye nor camera can function. Happy New Year to all good people!

Photo walk along the Lake Ohrid shore (of course with camera) shows the delightful ambience and climate even midst of December!
  • Country: Macedonia
One of the ways the Oxygen enters the water - probably the most beautiful to the eye and camera!
  • Country: Macedonia
About 12 nautical miles between the camera and the fishing boat, seen through the humid air moved by the wind over the surface.

Lake chub interested in my camera...
  • Country: Macedonia
The grasshopper is climbing our sunshade, quite unalarmed by the closeness of the camera. But our sunshade is also regularly patrolled by lizards, and thats another matter... :)
  • Country: Macedonia
The swan posing for the camera... so the title is self-explaining. Only dilemma... is the star to be regarded as a ballet dancer - or a conductor?!
  • Country: Macedonia
Large green izard, much more shy than his smaller cousins. This time he allowed the camera to a distance of about two meters, which was generous.
  • Country: Macedonia
A fearless spider inspecting the tablecloth. Unmoved by hands and camera, he strolled slowly across the table and went about his business.
  • Country: Croatia
Croatian landscapes are beautiful to ride in every season - as long as there is a camera along! So never leave your camera home, and know you're welcome in Croatia! :)
  • Country: Macedonia
The ugly, dilapidated sign (in every sense) was not observed, since such signs usually just display some unthinking persons arrogance and lack of knowlege. If you want to stop people taking pictures of something, fence it off, or hide it underground... as the right to see comes with having been born with eyes, and the camera is just an extension of those.
  • Country: Macedonia
A tiny, lean dragonfly resting. Or studying the camera...
  • Country: Macedonia
The dragonflies are very shy, but sometimes there are some that behave surprisingly friendly. We found that those are probably the ones we helped in their most delicate phase (coming out of the pupa).
  • Country: Macedonia
An example of light / photographing angle influence upon the surface transparence. This effect can be pronounced by the use of wide-angle lens, or a roto-polarising filter. Tip: if you use a simple pocket camera or phone, you could experiment by holding your polarised sunglasses right in front of the camera lens! Vary the angle a bit, and see what happens. (Total range of polarizating effects occurs within 90 degrees, between horizontal and vertical position of the glass... :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Returning to the parking lot, I found this mouser enjoying the warmth of the engine bonnet. He was quite calm about me and the camera approaching, and jumped off only when I was about one meter from him...

An autochtonous sort from the Lake Ohrid, the name "plashica" translates to "scarefish". It seems the fish is only scared of fishermen, since they dont flee from the camera. Lucky me! :)
