Not that lizards have problems with steep objects, they can literally climb house walls with ease... its just that this funny face looked as if he needed a rest.
  • Country: Macedonia
This lizard lives under the wall stucco... looks pretty safe from the rain, doesnt it?
  • Country: Macedonia
When your sky is like a mirror, everything will be symmetrical... if the surface will allow.
  • Country: Macedonia
A snake coming to the surface, for air - and some photos... :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Well I was actually brazenly obvious... The next second the snake was gone, for when they move, they MOVE! :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizard posing for an award-winning portrait! All that is missing now is an Award! :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Looks like some kind of lizard musician, isnt it?
  • Country: Macedonia
The snake saw me spying upon him and has decided to turn back. So... heads or tails? ;)
  • Country: Macedonia
Attracted to my bright red snorkel, the snakes will regularly approach to check it out. Fun!
  • Country: Macedonia
Having been surprised on the surface, the snake seeks the bottom cover by the most direct line, creating an interesting view.
  • Country: Macedonia
I went for a snorkeling swim to test a camera (its what I do) and to visit my water friends, fishes and reptiles. So I met this young fellow which, like 99% of all watersnakes, shows neither fear nor agression. He remained on my palm watching me and the camera with curiosity until it became too warm for him and he slithered back into the water. Im certain well meet again, and many times! And when he grows big, hell probably behave just like here. They remember well!
  • Country: Macedonia
Well, from the times of "sauri" it seems the only difference that remained is in size. We should be able to ask the insects about their impressions... Up close this beauty impresses me, though!
  • Country: Macedonia
    Small snake I met underwater...
  • Country: Macedonia
    - Hey Ant, Im hungry... are you not afraid Walking so closely and losing your head? - Hey Lizard, so funny... you may well rant You know my acid - so eat me you cant.
  • Country: Macedonia
    Lizard hiding in the shade...
  • Country: Macedonia
Caught sleeping in the sun, a small lizard had no fear of being photographed from point blank distance. He did open his eyes for a while, but detecting no danger, he went right back to sleep.
  • Country: Macedonia
Ants know well their acidic taste keeps them safe, even when they apparently offer themselves to bug-eaters. Too sour!
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizard came really close to my wifes hand to see what shes been doing! She was watering the plant in one of our terrace flowerpots, and the lizard seemingly forgot all the fear, just to watch it. It was the experience of the day, I can tell you!
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizard emerges from the shadow... and the Sun immediately bestows joyfully colored warmth upon him! What a parable for a story with strong moral in the end, wouldnt you say?
  • Country: Macedonia
See the lizard on the tree next to Fuzzys face? Theyre communicating - only it does not appear so obvious to us! :)
  • Country: Macedonia
One reptile friendly and harmless - you can safely say it is also very useful to us. Looks like its bigger relatives, though.
  • Country: Macedonia
    Lizard and a bug story...
  • Country: Macedonia
Ohridan watersnakes are inquisitive and very often show no fear at all. On the other side, theyre also totally unaggressive, especially if theyre used to ones frequent presence in their ambient.
  • Country: Macedonia
I took this snake off the reedstalk for some quick portraits, then let it go. He wasnt alarmed in the slightest, and simply swam to another reed about one meter away. Nice models, my snakes!
  • Country: Macedonia
"Hi, there... Im a small curious lizard, peeking from between two flowerpots on the terrace."
  • Country: Macedonia
The cormorant is in a bit of a snag, trying to swallow the snake. Unlike spaghetti, snakes cant be wicked prior to swallowing, especially when one is out on the waters and utterly without a fork...
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizard has found a snail, broke the shell open, and is now eating the innards. You would not believe the strength of lizards jaws... but then, theyre related to crocodiles...
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizard was climbing our thuya, looking for insects to eat... Above, a bird flew, looking for something to eat, too! The lizard executed a perfect salto, diving into the branches below. The bird never noticed... :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Large green lizard observing me carefully from behind the flowetop. In contrast to other lizard kinds this sort is very cautious and will rarely approach, trying hard to remain invisible. Their color doesnt help any to that purpose...
  • Country: Macedonia
One more photo of one of my underwater friends!
  • Country: Macedonia
Theyre all inquisitive and unagressive, but one in, say, hundred will be special - unafraid to the utmost, and curious you wouldnt believe.
  • Country: Macedonia
Snake changing course after seeing me. Maybe I pulled his tail last time we met... ;)
  • Country: Macedonia
Big green lizard propped himself as high as he was able, to see whats approaching down the road. Since it was a dog, in the next moment he was gone!
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizards have a special link in the tail vertebrae which makes it possible to them to lose the tail in an attack and save themselves to grow another tail later. Heres one with the new tail!
  • Country: Macedonia
Two watersnakes, distinctively different in coloration, but equally friendly and inquisitive.
  • Country: Macedonia
Its nice to be able to swim again and visit my underwater friends after my spell of post-op recovery. So I let this fella inspect my palm...
  • Country: India
    Climbing high of Garden Lizard
  • Country: Macedonia
One of the many lizards that use our terrace shade as their hunting ground. Shot from sitting comfortably underneath... :)

Beautiful and unafraid, the colorful lizard poses for the camera.

    Massive Croc
  • Country: Zambia
    Lizard resting in its place.
  • Country: Macedonia
First I thought the lizard had something in his mouth, but the enlargement showed an actual wound. Gods only know how that happened, but I hope the pretty reptile will heal soon.
  • Country: Macedonia
Natrix tessellata, in the Lake shallows. A real close-up, since the camera was a wide-angle Sjcam M10+ set to photo mode.
  • Country: Macedonia
Ants have this acid they can squirt in self-defence, but sometimes that makes them attractive in a "sour candy" sort of way. And thats how this lizard looks at him...
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizards sometimes run along the sides of our flowerpot row ignoring small irrelevancies like gravity... but pregnant ladies prefer the top rim. And when they stop to get some rest, its ideal for snapping a photo.
  • Country: Macedonia
Inspecting the foot... because it doe not do at all to be beautifully green, and then embarrassingly step into something... unacceptable!
  • Country: Macedonia
Frog ready for the photographer to disappear. Photographer, ready for the frog to disappear. OK, some photos happened between all the readiness... :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Green lizards are more shy than the other sorts, but this time the fear did not manage to supress the curiosity.
  • Country: Macedonia
Curious lizard peeking from behind the terrace flowerpot. Funny face of one useful, tame and beautiful being!
  • Country: Macedonia
One of "our" tame lizards peeking at us from between two flowerpots. This one already knows there is no danger of the camera and so allows the ultimate closeness of the lens.
  • Country: Macedonia
The watersnake has caught himself a fish, and is now swimming toward the shore where it will be easier to organize the way to swallow it head-first.
  • Country: Romania
Unique and original element of nature, this naturally formed rock in the shape of a dragons skull, is one of the many amazing wonders of nature.
  • Country: United States
    Destination: New Mexico
This approximately 5 year old dessert turtle came creeping into my backyard on a sunny summer day, probably heading to my veggie garden for a feast. Its very rare to see a dessert turtle of this age make it in the city limits as usually raccoons, coyotes, and other predatory animals catch them at a much younger age.
  • Country: United States
    Destination: West Virginia
Grey lizard sunbathing on rock wall.
  • Country: Macedonia
Enjoying the autumnal sunlight inbetween two gusts of rainstorms, both the marigold and lizard gather warmth, as the high winds already bring new, heavy clouds.
  • Country: Macedonia
Spying on a watersnake from below the surface. The sky and clouds create nice background.
  • Country: Macedonia
Curious and unafraid, the snake poses like a proper model. Beautiful eyes, too!
  • Country: Macedonia
Getting warmth between two ceramic tiles.
  • Country: Macedonia
My lake snakes know me well, and have not the slightest fright to approach and explore. This one I literally had to remove by hand! Im seriously thinking about some grid atop my snorkel, because some snakes might have funny ideas... :)
  • Country: Macedonia
One of our flowerpot lizards, close up. Theyre nice inquisitive, tame, and very efficient in bug population control. But their faces still appear similar to what we think were the faces of sauri from Earths primordial times!
  • Country: Macedonia
This summer was characterized by significant raise in number of snakes I have met underwater. Heres one image with more than one.
  • Country: Macedonia
Lizard growing a new tail, as he probably lost the previous one in escaping certain claws, teeth, or talons. Lizards have one vertebrae joint in their tails specially grown in such way that the tail can be detached with no ill effects. From that joint the new tail will grow in short time.
  • Country: Macedonia
Coiled from above, the snake uses the shadow of floating vegetation to snipe at the unsuspecting fish. Quite an interesting and ingenious way to hunt. Also very succesful.
  • Country: Macedonia
The snake suddenly saw me approaching and let out the air so as to be able to dive down quickly. Same trick the submarines do... :)
  • Country: Macedonia
The watersnake has caught a fish. Now hes going to swim to someplace dry to better manipulate it for swallowing it head-first. The way its grabbed now... problematic!
  • Country: Macedonia
Knowing there is no real danger from me, the watersnake is calmly inspecting my hand for some minutes, and then slowly swimming away. No wonder; we meet every summer day!
  • Country: Macedonia
The watersnake lining up a fish, for lunch purposes. Snakes are very efficient hunters.
  • Country: Macedonia
Eye to eye with a lizard. Hes quite unafraid... as we see each other every morning in the warm part of the year!
  • Country: Macedonia
It is the mating season for snakes... and what better place than warm lake waters?! :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Sometimes I look just under the surface, and the snakes are on the bottom. The other times, Ill scan the bottom, and one will appear from above the water to see me. Funny souls, the watersnakes! :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Watersnakes are shy, inquisitive, and beautiful, provided they expect no harm from the man. See for yourself! :)
  • Country: Macedonia
Watersnakes are friendly... if youre friendly to them!
  • Country: Macedonia
Close encounter on the wall: a bug and a lizard. Obviously the bug does not taste well, since its adversary hesitates...
  • Country: Macedonia
Fish-hunting snake is an interesting sight, and I often witness it during summer months. Hes swimming along with no sign of being alarmed at all.
  • Country: Macedonia
Large green izard, much more shy than his smaller cousins. This time he allowed the camera to a distance of about two meters, which was generous.
  • Country: Macedonia
The lizard is too small for ball games, but he found himself in a nice place for the photo.
  • Country: Macedonia
New lizard, curious as all the others...
  • Country: United States
    Destination: Texas
This butterfly always hangs around my garden in the spring and summer, such a beautiful sight.

This flower is just so white and pure, so beautiful, found it as I was walking through a park.

Baby Oriental Garden Lizard Waiting For Insects To Hunt Over Cockscomb Flower...
  • Country: Macedonia
The watersnake resting, securely anchored to the reedstalks. Its reflection in the surface makes it look even more complicated... ;)
  • Country: Macedonia
... or "A Lunch That Was Too Free"! The tableau lasted for ten seconds or so. Then the lizard moved just a fraction of a milimeter - and the fly was gone!
  • Country: Macedonia
My little trick to get the snake to look underwater, for a picture or two. Otherwise, hed still be up there, wondering at the snorkel... ;)
  • Country: Macedonia
Reflections are funny and fascinating things, arent they?
  • Country: Macedonia
The young snake fearlessly explores my hand, and then leisurely swims away. I treat such encounters as compliments, since I managed to appear friendly and present no danger. Thus, the inquisitive little souls come to me, and give me presents; like this picture.
  • Country: United States
    Destination: Ohio
Turtle eating Grass in the wild in Ohio
  • Country: Thailand
water monitor lizard foraging in the margins.
  • Country: Macedonia
There are snakes of various sizes in my Lake. This curvaceous dame is about one meter long, so you can tell her "hip size". :)
  • Country: Macedonia
The snake was patient while I took it gently under the surface to make a photo. When I opened my hand, he swum away quite calmly. Then again, these snakes know me well, since I meet them during my everyday summer snorkelings...
  • Country: Macedonia
The unpredictable part of every water-related photo is the reflection, as it depends (among other things) upon the state of the surface. And underwater side of the surface makes it even more so.
  • Country: Macedonia
I made a pause in the swim, and an inquisitive snake came by to investigate.
